A brainchild of renowned television writer and creative director Rajita Sharma and Director Vivek Budakoti, Magic Lantern Productions, was founded in 2009 with the goal of providing fresh, innovative and high quality content in television as well as films.

Their first Daily soap ‘Preet Se Bandhi Ye Dori Ram Milayi Jodi’ on Zee TV not only bagged a prestigious Prime Time viewing but also garnered viewers and critics’ admiration. Rajita Sharma and Vivek Budakoti were rewarded as most promising debut producers in Indian television. (New Talent Telly awards 2011)

Having many a successful TV shows and serials in their kitty, this boutique production house is diversifying into films and earning accolades for their first film Pied Piper. The Hindi feature film Pied Piper starring Rajpal Yadav has been officially selected to be screened at Chicago South Asian Film festival (Official Selection) September 2013, followed by Alexandria Film festival (Official Selection) Novemeber 2013 and Dhaka International Film festival -2014 (Official Selection- Cinema of the world section) January 2014.


As an emerging powerhouse production house recognized for its high quality content and creativity, Magic Lantern Productions aims to achieve excellence in the genres of Films, Advertising and Television software production in the coming years.

With a completed yet to be released Hindi feature film Pied Piper and another ready to roll shortly, Magic Lantern Productions looks forward to providing promising and compelling audio-visual experience to its viewers.

Founder Members

Rajita Sharma

(Producer, Writer and Creative Director)

With an expertise in Content management as a Writer and Creative Director, Rajita Sharma’s experience ranges widely from Television News reporting to Travel Shows to documentary films to Ad films and TV serials.

Having started her work as a trainee correspondent with TV Today group in 1996, she went on to direct a Weekly Science magazine and many a documentaries on Human Rights, Health and Education of Women, Plight of Women in Insurgent India, Indian Folk theatre and news magazines on various social issues (‘Kiran’- DD, India).

She worked as an assistant Director for a few Ad Films and Feature Films before taking to writing as her first passion. She developed and/or wrote close to 25 successful shows for television like ‘Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin’, ‘Kasauti Zindagi ki’,’ Kkusum’, ‘Aek Chabhi Hai Pados mein’, ‘Ek Ladki Anjani Si’, ‘India Calling’, ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ and ‘Ram Milayi Jodi’ to name a few. She also had a short but fruitful stint as a Supervising Producer in Sony TV, India. She later went on to produce a few TV serials ‘Ram Milayi Jodi’ and ‘Tum Dena Saath Mera’ for prominent satellite channels, anchor links with celebrated actress Madhuri Dixit for the launch of a new channel and a Telefilm for Star India under the banner of Magic Lantern Productions.

Pied Piper is her maiden venture in Hindi Feature Film as a Producer and Writer along with Vivek Budakoti.



Vivek Budakoti

(Producer and Director)

Born in 1976, in town of Lucknow, India, Vivek Budakoti, started his career an Assistant Director for Indian Television serials produced by Nimbus. He made his first short film titled “Image” that was showcased and nominated for awards in Digital Talkies International Film Festival 2001.

He also assisted the most prolific painter of his time M F Hussein for his film “Meenakshi- a tale of three cities’ besides working as an Associate Director for a couple of Indian and International feature films.

Vivek started his production company “Magic Lantern Productions” in 2010 along with partner Rajita Sharma and together they produced a few daily soaps and a telefilm for prominent satellite channels in India before they produced their first feature Pied Piper.
